Stallion. Was the first thing she thought, her inner vocals disgusted. She didn't know why she'd roamed into these lands, but she now regretted it. She silently decides to stay low and hope to remain unseen. She was pretty good at that. But you never knew with these stallions. They always seemed to know when one was on their land. And Salt just wasn't the filly she used to be, she'd couldn't run as fast and she wasn't as swift. Her joints were protesting as it was, her stocky form moving somewhat stiffly through the undergrowth. Her hooves crunched more than she would like, and her breathing was heavier than usual. She was not happy. And she was starting to get exhausted. Stretching her hind legs out, she flinched slightly but chose to ignore the pain. Looking around slowly, she pulled at a low hanging branch on a tree and stripped it of its leaves, chewing hungrily on the luscious foliage. Green saliva dripped down her chin, showing the extent of her hunger. She hadn't eaten in at least a day and a half, the travelling going unassisted. It had been painful. Stripping another branch, Salt stuck to the shadowy undergrowth, her white pelt barely showing in the thickness.
Running her tongue slowly along her lips, Salt growled as the stallion's scent grew stronger. Must be where he usually is. She mused silently, her cranium dropping so she could scent the ground. Yep, definitely. Her expression soured further, taking in the lands. They were lovely. Lush and green. The ground was soggy, it must have rained recently. Pulling a mouthful of grass, she straightened up and leaned forward on her pillars, surging forward into a fast walk. It didn't take long until she had to stop again, her limbs protesting angrily. Sighing deeply at the pain, she decided to take a little rest. Walking at a steady pace to a large oak, the plucky mare leaned against it heavily. She was mostly out of sight, but she could see all around her. If a stallion approached, she would know. Not that she could do much about it. She was weak after her journeys. She would have to rely on wit if things became dangerous. She could do that. It often saved her. Snuffling at the tree gently, she kicked up the ground a little and allowed water to surge out of the squishy mud. It covered her hooves, cooling them lovingly. She sighed again, wanting desperately to lower onto her stomach. But she could not. That would put her in a vulnerable position. All 13 hands or so of her.

Kavianza became excited as the wind changed direction and he smelled a mare. Her smell wasn't as swee as most other mares so he figured she was older. He shrugged to himself and started off at a trot. When he saw her he was suprised. A pony. he sighed and shook his head as he continued to trot toward her. Kav wasn't always cold and heartless, often to sweet mares he was sweet back.
When he reached his destination he smiled kindly. "Welcome to Keaile, madame. My name is Kavianza and I am the Monarch here, but you may call me Kav if it is what you prefer. Do you mind me asking what your calling is?" He spoke sweetly and welcoming. He had lowered himself to her height so as not to seem threatening. He watched her curiously. He wondered if he would stay with her. And if she answered right, he wouldn't have to use force. Oh, how he wished she would choose right.
Kav smiled at her, happy she had came on to his land, because now, she was his. He wondered what this essa would be like. Would she be nice??? Then a whole new question came to his mind. Could he breed her? She looked wary and old, but after all she looked around the likes of ten so she would have at the most twenty years left. I will give her some time and then we will see.

Salt turned out to be correct, her assumption that a stallion would appear soon proved right. She watched the brute move closer, her eyes narrowed. She could feel the impure kindness rolling from him. It was his hunting tactic, it appeared. Her hazel oracles remained cold and hard, her lips pulled into a thin line. She knew it wasn't going to be easy to leave, he would make it difficult. But she would leave. He would not make her his mare. No matter what he thought. Salt belonged to nobody. She nearly had, but never would again. Her cold heart beat strongly as if to agree.
His smile. That bugged her. She stared back at him blank faced. Kav. King Kav. What a pleasure. She thought sarcastically, pushing herself away from the tree and putting some distance between them as she backed up some. Personal space, buddy. You're in mine. Her eyes narrowed at him. "Yes, I do mind." She offered finally aloud, not giving her any clues to her name. Salt shook herself out slowly, her eyes never leaving him. His sickly sweetness was getting to her, it was making her teeth ache. Did mares actually fall for this? If they did, they obviously didn't have the world experience of Salt. They were naive, idiots.
Salt's eyes widened as the stag lowered himself to her height, her nares flaring in annoyance. "Really? Really!? I may be short, but you don't scare me, King Kav. I can see you perfectly well without you trying to adapt to my height impairment. And for the record, before your plans get too far, I'm not staying." Her tone was matter of fact, still cold. She glared at the brute, backing up some more as she thrust her front hoof into the soggy ground in annoyance, her ears pinned angrily. There was nothing more Salt hated than being condescended. This guy really wasn't ticking any boxes. No wonder he had no mares that she could smell. And he wasn't getting this one either. No way, no how.

Kavianza was very hurt by her accusation. He was honestly being kind. He was kind. He was very kind and he was just trying to be her friend. His smile disappeared as a frown appreared. He felt as if he was about to cry. He sagged and and a tear escaped. He did not want her to call him King. He just wanted to to Kav. "I am sorry," he sniffed. "I did not mean to make you feel condescended. Also I do not want you to call me King. It's a sick word. I prefer just Kav. I prefer being your equal." He held back the tears now, as it would not be good for his image. What Salt thought she saw was exactly what Kav's father wanted Kav to be. But he wasn't that. He never was. "I understand completely. If it is your wish, you may leave." He nodded his head and sniffed once more, the tears threatening to spill over. He turned, knowing she would want him to leave now. He planned to let the tears come once she was out of sight. To curl up in a ball and more or less, die.

Salt's eyes widened comically when she saw the tear, her lips clamping together as she swallowed her laughter. Wow Salt, personal best. Just over a minutes into the meeting and you've already made him cry. A quiet snicker escaped her before she could stop herself, but she covered it with a cough, her expression smoothing to neutral again. As he began to speak, his vocals laced with sadness, Salt did feel a tiny flash of guilt. Not enough to stay, but there was a flash. Yes, Salt did feel some emotions. It was just rare, okay? "Just don't do it again, if we ever meet." She warned him, her tone not as cold this time. "And I won't call you King." She amended quietly. That seemed fair, didn't it?
"Thank you." She murmured, unsure of herself. Watching him leave for a moment, she turned before yelping softly in pain. "Umm.. Ki- Kav? Would you mind showing me to a water source? I need to sooth my aches." She asked, turning around carefully. Since staying still during their talk, her joints had started to seize up. Now she was in quite a lot of pain. If she did not sooth them soon, she wouldn't be able to move. That would lead to death, eventually. Shuddering gently at the thought, the prideful mare turned a pleading gaze on Kav. She didn't have time to go looking herself, she needed the closest water fast. He was her only hope, as much as she hated to admit it. She just hoped he wouldn't scorn her now. Maybe this would be the time that her snark would come back at bite her on the butt. She damn well hoped not.

Kavianza smiled and nodded. Of course he would help this mare. Anything for any essa who needed his help. He bowed before telling her that no matter how anyone treated him he would always help. With his large, broad head Kav motioned for her to follow him to his wonderful watering hole. He loved his land because it was both peaceful and the least dangerous of all the lands in existance so far. His tears had almost fully dried up and he was looking dapper and handsome once more. He knew his father would not approve of his rash behavior to show his emotions and if he were still around, Kavianza might have just undergoed a large beating. He winced at the thought.
Father would want me to be strong and not show emotion. But this essa has already seen the real me so would it really hurt if I didn't put up any more pretences in front of her? He decided it wouldn't. He watched her to see if she was able to make the long trek. He could always carry her if necessary....
