Personality: Kismet is one tough cookie. Having been alone so much, Kismet has adapted to living alone. She keeps her heart guarded, refusing access to any and all, no matter how close they think they get to her. Distrusting, Kismet doesn't really allow someone to get close, but there are those VERY rare horses that know her well, but she doesn't ever stay in one place for very long. Not very trusting of stallions, Kismet doesn't do so well around them. Bad experiences in the past has led her to believe that all stallions are scum, which puts a damper on possibly finding that one stud that is right for her. She isn't one to be pushed around, in fact, she has absolutely no problem putting her hooves down and standing up for herself. But she doesn't go looking for trouble. Always a loner, Kismet hasn't been in a herd since she was 2.
History: With her personality stand-offish, it is no surprise that Kismet came from a dam that had a similar personality. In fact, Kismet's dam had no herd and was found by a stallion one day. Within a matter of moments upon first meeting, the stallion had claimed Kismet's dam and force bred her within the first couple of weeks of the claiming. The first chance her dam got, she fled, leaving the stallion one less mare. Her dam didn't go far, staying just on the edges of the herd's territory, not really happy about being with foal, but she didn't want to be saddled with the responsibility of raising the foal once it was born.
Once Kismet was born and old enough to not need her mother, the dam nudged her back toward the herd that was led by her sire. Before the stallion knew what was happening, Kismet was standing in a field and her dam was galloping full out without another word. Looking at Kismet and her sire, one wouldn't know they were blood. Her sire was a 16.2 hands and black as night, with a long, flowing mane and tail that spoke of very good breeding. Whether they looked the same or not, the stallion was always looking for more mares and found that Kismet wasn't all that bad looking but she had much growing to do. From the very first day she joined her sire's herd, she was constantly reminded of her dam's cowardliness and that when she grew, she would be used a broodmare as often as nature allowed.
When Kismet came into her first season, she found herself lucky as another stallion showed up, trying to steal some of her sire's mares. It was then that Kismet started to notice a difference in stallions. Her sire was rash and stupid, while the slightly older stallion that had plans to steal some of his mares was almost kinder and more stable. As soon as her sire's back was turned, several of the mares bolted, including herself. Shortly after her flight, Kismet met up with the stallion that had tried to steal the mares and found that he wasn't nearly as intolerable as her sire.
He was called Vrake and was a beautiful Friesian/Shire mix that had been traveling for some time. Kismet and several of the other mares from her sire's herd joined him and they left the valley that had been her home since birth. Within a matter of days, all the mares had been bred and they were far out of Kismet's home territory. The first breeding for Kismet didn't take, but shortly before she turned 2, she was bred again and the breeding did take. The end result was a large black colt that had his sire's size and his dam's grace. However, shortly after her colt's birth, the herd was split up when Vrake was challenged by a younger stallion and was mortally wounded. The mighty stallion didn't have a chance and he died quickly afterwards.
Without a herd once more, Kismet and her colt didn't run off and join another once. For almost 2 years, they stayed together, but of course, as soon as her colt, she called Roland, heard the calling of claiming a land, he ventured off and claimed his own land and herd. She knows his location and has promised to visit from time to time, but she rarely stays for very long. For another year, Kismet has run alone, but time has taken its toll on the mare, there are countless scars and markings on her golden hide that are from fighting off stallions. She has no other offspring, as Roland's sire, Vrake, was the only one to ever have caught her attention. Things are starting to get to the point where her heart is longing for another and a home to call her own. But for now, she still runs free and alone.
