they call me Reyne, and I've been around for 10 years I'm a Stallion, and my bloodlines are those of an American Paint. I stand 16 hh, and I'm White and Palomino in color. my eyes are Brown on the left, and Blue on the right, and I'm marked with Dark palomino tobiano splashes on my chest, neck, head, and belly. I was born with no deformities
PERSONALITY Reyne is, first and foremost, a quiet soul. He is innocuous, easily dismissed and over-looked, seemingly uninteresting, and at times, has been mistaken for border-line stupid. Not only is he quiet, but he has a subtle melancholy, an air of utter despair and hopelessness that can be easily dismissed at first, but eventually becomes impossible to ignore. It isn't his nature to get close to anyone, and generally his behaviour makes him a less than appealing companion, so he lives his life in quiet solitude. He speaks softly, without any apparent need to get things out of his mouth quickly, and he moves with a sluggish despondence, as if every move must be forced. He frequently stares off into space, and when questioned about what he was thinking of, unfailingly replies 'just the wind'. Of course, no one really knows what that means. It is theorized that perhaps Reyne has gone mad, for sometimes he can be caught muttering to himself, or giving the air peculiar looks. It's unlikely the truth of this matter will ever be revealed, but Reyne is a gentle soul, and it is hard to think that even madness could drive him to harm anyone.
HISTORY Reyne was born to a starving mare, lost in the mountain rim. She had fled from her homeland for reasons Reyne himself would never know, and has always wondered. She was taken in by a band of hardy mountain horses, where she gave birth to her son and named him; she died only days later. Reyne was raised on the milk of another mare, who herself had a filly only weeks old. Reyne never felt like an outsider to this herd, he was one of them, they were his family. When he was told of his origins and his dead mother, he was curious, he yearned for the chance to have known her, but he did not feel any less a member of the tribe; Cleo, who had given him her milk, was more his mother than the poor nag who had died bringing him here. So when he was chosen to join their sacred order, he did not balk, he went proudly to his fate. He could not know that someday he would regret that choice; that he would wish he had fled into the green plains to live with his mother's people.
The order was a dangerous thing, a secret society of equine assassins, the finest killers in the land. Reyne rose quickly through their ranks; he was a clever horse, dedicated, and he learned fast. Within a few short years, he was one of their best. He spent the better part of his life with the order, doing things that most horses would find despicable. He viewed his life through rose-colored glass, until a few years ago. Perhaps it was age, perhaps it was simply going out into the world beyond the mountains, but gradually, Reyne began to see the dark side of his world, the fear and misery he instilled in others. It broke him. There is no other way to describe what happened to him over the last few years. He was a brilliant, shining star, fueled by the belief that he was doing something right. But now, he is a shell, a husk filled with remorse and hopelessness.
When he was young, and first told of his mother, he was told that it was she who named him, and that his name was the name of the night god she worshipped. In his curiosity, he learned all he could of this god during his years with the order. It was a god of justice and truth, but also a god of mercy, and compassion. Always, he had believed this god to be weak, pointless, but it was to this god he ran when he fled his tribe and his sacred order. That was only a few short months ago, and he has been wandering in solitude ever since, not daring to stop for long, for fear that they will come for him.
